Clubby came to us with a delicious idea for a “club special in a can” + a vision for their package design, but they asked for our help to bring that vision to life and assist them in creating a brand that would grow alongside their emerging seltzer company. Product launch would include just one flavor, the original lemon + lime, in the Oklahoma City metro but their future goal was to expand their list of flavors and the locations their products would be available.
We knew that Clubby’s business would expand quickly, which would require a scalable parent brand for their future range of seltzers: Clubby Seltzers. The Clubby Seltzers brand has a distinctinly humourous, preppy, and approachable personality. The token brand assets are the custom Clubby script logo and the custom flavor + golf icons that adorn the labels of all their products. The Clubby patterning system is unique in the seltzer market and is evocative of the playful patterns found on popular golf attire + merchandise. On all design deliverables, from labels to 12-packs to store displays, the Clubby Seltzers brand acheives visual consistency through the balance of strong color (inspired by the palette of lush golf courses and the given flavor of each product), punchy phrases in bold typography (the Gotham family), clean product + lifestyle photography, and an intelligent use of ample negative space.
